  • Jam Filled Halifax is looking for a Mid-level Systems Administrator who is responsible for the day-to-day resolution of issues and requests (tickets) as well as the monitoring and maintenance and monitoring of all workstations and peripherals within the Jam Filled network as pertains to hardware, operating systems, and application software.

    Responsibilities

    You’ll get to:

    • Lead the assigned team(s) in ensuring that all layout deliverables are completed fully and in line with production schedule
    • Along with team, utilize Maya to compose CG layout shots for an assigned show that meet all technical and creative requirements and are compatible with the production pipeline
    • Train up new personnel on show specific layout procedures
    • Assist in assigning layout work to team members based on individual specialties, and oversee individual progress and performance on a daily/weekly basis

    Our Toronto Studio is looking for a Matte Painter who creates digital matte paintings in the style of the show, working from visual direction provided by the Show Director and/or Art Director.

    Responsibilities

    You’ll get to:

    • Create digital matte paintings in the style of the show, working from visual direction provided by the Show Director and/or Art Director
    • Gather suitable reference material from various sources
    • Produce concept art either manually or digitally
    • Utilize 2-D Photoshop paintings blended with animated 3-D elements to create digital backgrounds and environments which match the overall look and feel of the film
    • Revise work as per Show Director and/or Art Director feedback
    • Provide creative input where appropriate
    • Troubleshoot creative and technical issues as they arise
    • Keep up to speed with current industry trends
    • Perform additional duties as required

    Qualifications

    This will be your jam if you have:

    • 2+ years of Art Department experience, preferably within the animated film industry
    • Completed post-secondary education in fine arts, art fundamentals, classical animation, or other relevant area of study, with strong colour theory knowledge
    • Advanced 2D skills in Photoshop
    • 3D experience in Maya strongly recommended
    • Strong traditional art skills with the ability to produce digitally appealing artwork
    • High level of creativity, with the ability to perform to standard under tight deadlines
    • Ability to adapt working style to varying budget and schedule parameters
    • Ability to handle feedback and constructive criticism well
    • Experience creating 2D/3D overlays an asset

  • Jam Filled Ottawa is looking for a highly skilled, 2D Layout Artist, for a new prime time, feature quality animated series.

     Job Responsibilities: (may include but are not limited to)

    • Be primarily responsible for translating panels from storyboards to layouts that will serve as the production backgrounds
    • Be responsible for both layout and camera framing/movement on the production as well as maintaining continuity across sequences
    • Collaborate with the production’s Director and/or Art Director, and the Layout Supervisor
    • Able to demonstrate strong visual interpretation skills
    • Be responsible for producing rough and clean designs
    • Clearly identify areas that could become issues down the production pipeline
    • Be responsible for keeping up with you own quota in order to meet deadlines
      Communicating with the team and/or supervisor to solve problems as they arise

    Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience as a 2D Layout Artist on an animated production, or demonstrate having exceptional drawing skills
    • Must have strong knowledge of perspective, scale in design principle, strong freehand draftsmanship

    • Be 5 seconds more awesome than you were 3 seconds ago
    • Attend Effects reviews for assigned sequences
    • Troubleshoot and debug shot problems and escalate technical issues as required
